Nicolò Neri

He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Cello with top marks at the Conservatorio "G.Verdi" in Turin and continued his studies by obtaining a Master of Arts in Music Performance in Maestro Asier Polo's class at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. During his Master's studies, he attended the prestigious University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover/Germany, where he specialised with Prof. T. Wick.

 

He is a graduate student of the Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy in Maestro Asier Polo's class at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana.

 

As passionate musician of ensemble music and orchestra, he successfully participated in numerous national and international auditions, such as those for the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the 'Leonore' Orchestra of Pistoia, the Aurora Music Festival in Stockholm (2018-2020), the Teatro Regio in Turin as a student at the Conservatorio 'G.Verdi' and at the Fondazione DeSono as a scholarship holder for Maestro S. Guarino's classes. He was selected by an international jury to participate in the activities of the Musethica Organisation for 2022/2023 and invited to the related Festivals such as the one in Zasagoza. He was also selected by the Ulysses Network as a "promising young performer" and invited to participate as a guest performer at the "Akademie kontemporär" of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and with the Divertimento Ensemble in Milan.

 

For the Ticino Musica Festival 2022, he performed in chamber music with Prof. M. Rizzi, N. Monkemeyer and G. Gnocchi.

 

As a soloist, he is the winner of numerous national and international prizes, such as First Prize at the XXI International Music Competition 'Premio Vittoria Caffa Righetti' in Cortemilia.

 

He collaborated with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana as a student at the "M.Kagel" Project, with the Orchestra Giovanile "L. Cherubini" founded by R. Muti, Ravenna, with the Orchestra "Leonore", Pistoia, with the Aurora Symphony Orchestra, Stockholm, conducted by M.i° J-P. Saraste and J. Gustavsson, with the Ulysses network, with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino (first part), with the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, with the Ensamble 900Presente and the Collegium Musicum di Lugano (Artistic dir. S. Molardi), with the Fondazione "Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo" (ICO), with the Collettivo_21di Piacenza, the United Soloist Orchestra di Lugano and with the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo.

 

He is a member of the "Rosenquartet" based in Lugano under the guidance of Maestro Aldo Campagnari (Quartetto Prometeo) and of the duo "Les Goutes Reunites" with pianist and harpsichordist D. Zanghì.

 

He specialised with T. Demenga and S. Guarino, M. Brunello, T. Wick, D. Grosgurin, T. Caroll, G. Gnocchi, T. Yamashita, T. Thedeen, F. Bartolomey, M. Polidori , R. Lukic. For chamber music with: Ulf Schneider, Amiral Ganz, Markus Becker, Pavel Berman and Omar Zoboli. In the contemporary repertoire he has collaborated with Camilla Hoitenga, Kaija Saariaho, Stefano Gervasoni, Arturo Tamayo, Sandro Gorli, with the Divertimento Ensemble from Milan and with members of the LUX:NM Berlin ensemble.

 

He collaborates with the School of Music of the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana as a substitute teacher and is cello Professor at the Donald Swann Academy and the "R. Steiner" School in Lugano. Since 2019 he has been an Artist of Chiara Dubay based in Zurich, with whom he has collaborated on recording projects and tours.
